I posted to much info. so deleted some
I will just say they make the COBE sick with nerves.
They are pushing Sunday field service
They are most assuredly noticing the lack of Brothers reaching out
back in the day, when the co came to the congregation, it was quite stressful for the elders and often, the rank and file.
.
is it as big a deal as it used to be?.

what were *your favorite *books in the organization?.
out of all of those books, i liked "mankind's search for god.
" however, it appears to me that this book is incredibly obscure and no one recalls studying it during the old book study format.
As a kid I loved the AID book. My non-JW friend had a set of Encyclopedia Britannica. I really wanted a set . Was a dictionary nerd too.
So the AID book was something that passed a lot time; something similar and approved.
I still have two copies for sentimental reasons.
As an adult, I never read any JW book through . I would get lost in my sort of ADD world. They were to hard to hard to follow and just made me feel worthless/unworthy. So I just went somewhere else.
Being made to study that horrid not/Paradise book just gave me bloody nightmares. But that's another topic.
i've been away from the boards so long that i had to create a new account but recent events have brought me back - i've missed this place!
anyway, i heard a former witness being interviewed the other day that said the witnesses were now being highly discouraged to read the bible by itself (without wt literature) on their own.
this seems over the top even for the witnesses.
'Independent' groups studying the Bible can lead to 'Independent' thinking.
Independent thinking is a crime too.
Even studying on your own, using their bible or another translation and say, a bible dictionary will raise suspicion.
we all know the wt basis for disfellowshipping, (1 corinthians 5:9-13) 9 12 for what do i have to do with judging those outside?
do you not judge those inside, 13 while god judges those outside?
remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves.. if removing "the man" is a protection for the congregation and no police are called, what does it say about the witnesses view of the world?
sort of a ramble here,
My thoughts many years ago:
but why go out in service, when the reason is to get some one to go to meetings. it is not and never will be a safe place.
Now this horrid man, Bowditch, must be going out in service. Right? He has the recklessness to say he isn't going to protect non jw's, unless he knows them personally. But he is not protecting anyone one in his hall either. But inviting people he meets at the door and maybe that silly cart thing, to come to a safe place of worship.
This is so crazy.
i have noticed when an elder or ms gets in serious trouble, many times it's simply a demotion.
local example.
well liked ms son of a prominent elder/pioneer gets caught doing the dance with no pants with his fiancee.
I've seen it go the way as described mostly.
But .. I new a family that had a young teen caught smoking along with many other kids. They came down harder on the one with the elder dad, because he should have been setting a 'fine example' to the other kids who did not have dads as elders.
Kids dad was removed. Their child got a public marking announcement . Nothing happened to the other ones.
as a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.
I remember this as a kid too.
They didn't burn. Proof the demons were hiding in them.
Ever tried to burn a bond book?
haha
i stole this, from of all places, rick fearon.
i don't know who he stole it from.
please think of more.. things i trust more than the jehovah's witnesses governing body+ the media+ mexican tap water+ cappuccino from bill cosby+ a bigfoot sighting+ a politician who says "trust me"+ an al qaeda who wants flying lessons, but skips landing and take-offs+ a hillary clinton war story+ bill clinton wanting to give a speech at an all-female school+ gas station sushi+ a brian williams or bill o'rielly news report+ email from a nigerian prince.
:-)
have you all read this weeks study article?.
oh my word it is full of fear inducing tactics....doom and gloom outlooks.... anxiety inducing methods to develop absolute control over witnesses and cripple them in any attempt to think for themselves!.
(notice i am saying "themselves" rather than "ourselves"?!
That picture is so pre 1975. [but better quality]
Yes, lets scare everyone again.
Especialy the children.
"Hey I heard they are building concentration camps just for JWs . Lets get ready for persecution."
sickos
anyone read candida moss book how early christians invented.
a story of martydom.
the romans did not terget, hunt or.
A very interesing topic.
When vistiing The Colosseum , my tour guide said that Christains were not killed there. It was a myth.
This was a long time ago , I have always wondered about her comment.
i've been drinking 1 tbs with a glass of water twice daily for digestion for about 3 weeks now.
i've found it helps, but it also acts as an appetite suppressant; i've lost several pounds since using it.
i'm consuming fewer calories because i'm just not as hungry as before.
I use apple cider viniger for many things too.
I like to add a few drop in the water when I poach eggs. It keeps it all together.
Like Shirley said, Bragg is the one to use for the health benifits. It's at most regular markets now and all health food stores
It's also a good foot soak. I read somewere to add a 1/3 cup of Listerine and the same anount of Bragg viniger to your water. Soak your feet for no longer than 20 min. That's my favorite soak right now. I love the tingle..smile.
I use plaine old white viniger for cleaning. It's cheaper. I use it on the counters, floors and add it to laundry. The scent leaves quickly. Though it does'nt bother me.
